The troop chose to do a trip to one of the most challenging high adventure camps available: Swamp Base in the Atchafalaya Basin of Louisiana. At 1.4 million acres in size, the Atchafalaya Swamp is an unmatched wonder of America, filled with majestic cypress swamps and an incredible diversity of birds, fish, and reptiles that inhabit its skies and waterways.

The Alpine district runs an annual riverway cleanup event to pick up trash around the waterways in Jefferson. It is eastimated that land-based activities account for 60-80% of the world’s marine pollution. This debris is carried to the ocean in part by creeks and rivers. As part of this effort, we worked on picking up trash around Clement park and Johnson Reservior. Do a good turn daily!
Mr.Coffey has kicked off Spring planning with a Gardening Merit Badge block. Last week, the Scouts planted their seeds so that their seedlings will be ready to plant when the weather breaks.
